Children - How they can benefit from Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a gentle, natural and non-invasive way of working with this age group and their
associated problems. Some parents dislike the idea of using frequent doses of antibiotics, steroids and other
medication such as anti depressants or Ritalin and so, if appropriate, make an informed decision and seek a
different approach. Twenty years ago, my partner (a Dr in Chemistry and ex cancer research scientist) and I did
the same with our children now 19 and 15 years old. We made the decision to tackle our sons repeated ear
infections and stutter homeopathically, after repeated trips to the Dr failed to help. Personally for us and him,
it was the right choice and his ailments resolved, without the need for antibiotics or grommets.
With such a good response we felt confident using this approach when faced with other problems
as they grew up. Both of them will often ask to see our Homeopath even now!
An overview of my clinics during the last 3 years (relating to child patients) shows the main complaints
parents booked consultations with me were for:–
- Eczema/Acne
- Ear aches & infections (catarrhal deafness, sinusitis)
- Repeated coughs/colds
- Low immunity/tiredness

Children are under so much pressure these days, academically and with peer pressures, they can find
themselves overwhelmed, especially in times of stress. Issues of identity, socialisation and for younger
children the transitions from nursery to school can all take their toll, causing insecurities to surface.
These might present themselves physically with skin complaints or emotionally such as behavioural problems.
My approach is very child centred, where younger children are encouraged to draw and play,
whilst I chat to the parents. If they are old enough I will chat to the child.
It’s very relaxed, with plenty of time in each appointment to discuss concerns.
I am available for emergency calls at weekends/evenings for patients registered with me.
